Hairdressing Taster Course - Jan 2026
A Trailblazer Project working with Younique Talent from Heywood
These sessions are for people who are ideally 18+ and currently out of work and looking for a good way to find a route into hairdressing.
Working with Younique Talent this is a great opportunity to explore various hairdressing techniques to see if this is the career for you.
There are three separate sessions planned and we have 10 places available per session for those currently out of work and considering a career in the hairdressing profession.

Curly Blow Drying

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify the essential tools and products for a curly blow dry.
- Understand and apply basic hair safety practices when using heat tools.
- Demonstrate the correct technique for sectioning hair for blow drying.
- Perform the fundamental steps of a curly blow dry using a hairdryer and round brush.
- Achieve bouncy, voluminous curls with a smooth finish.
Hair Extensions
21st Jan 2026
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify the risks associated with improper hair extension fitting, including traction alopecia.
- Accurately colour-match hair using a swatch ring.
- Perform a basic fitting of both a sewn weave and a nano ring extension.
- Safely and correctly remove a sewn weave and a nano ring extension.
- Explain the importance of health, safety, and client consultation.
Hair Up / Braiding
28th Jan 2026
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify basic tools and accessories
- Create the classic ponytail
- Section the hair for braiding
- French braid, dutch braid, dragon braiding techniques
- The art of curling the hair
- The finishing touches- using products to finish the hair
