Are you worried about money, we’re here to help.
Lighthouse Money Advice is our own free to use fully regulated in-house debt advice service.
The service, which has been open since October 2018, is run for the purpose of helping local people to deal with personal debt, to maximise their income, manage their money more effectively, and ultimately to become free from debt.
What is Lighthouse Money Advice?
Lighthouse Money Advice is a free to use face-to-face advice service, which has been set up to provide people with confidential and impartial advice concerning personal money and debt problems, and to relieve the impact of debt on health and personal life. Unfortunately we are not able to deal with business debts, but for these we would signpost you to alternative provision.
Struggling with personal debt? Don’t let things pile up
We understand all about debt and what impact it has: it can make you feel like being in a prison where you can see no way out. It can make you feel afraid, ashamed, guilty, angry. We know that it can make every part of your life hard and stressful; and make you feel like you can’t face another day.
Money is not something that many people feel comfortable speaking about, especially when things are not going so well. However, there are ways that things can be moved forwards, and our advisers are here to help you. Our encouragement is for you not to bury things away, but to speak with one of our money advisers so that we can help you improve your financial situation. First: We arrange to have an informal chat, to listen to you, so we can find out more about your situation and get an understanding of your circumstances.
Second: After the informal chat we arrange an initial assessment – which is a one-to-one appointment – for us to gather more of the specific details about your finances.
This then allows us to give you some options about possible ‘next steps’, and how you might more things forward.
This could involve:
● Arranging to do an online benefits check – maximising income
● Preparing a budget to help record and manage your money
● Supporting you to develop your online financial skills
● Progressing to a full debt support service
● Signposting to other appropriate services/agencies

Lighthouse Money Advice is an affiliate of the Community Money Advice (CMA) network, and we are also registered and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Each year CMA centres around the country help thousands of people, from all walks of life, escape from the blight of indebtedness by providing free, unconditional, fully confidential advice and practical support.
Fully-trained debt advisers offer advice specific to each client’s needs and advisers give as much time and support as required until debts have been repaid and financial stability achieved.
