Knit and Natter News November 2025
Over the years the Knit and Natter group at the Lighthouse Project has been approached by numerous organisations and charities to help out with knitting based projects.
We have made twiddle mittens for dementia sufferers, bonding hearts and clothes for premature babies, hats and scarves for the homeless, poppies and soldiers for the British Legion and knitted prostheses for ladies who have had a mastectomy.
But our latest request has been our most poignant. Through the positive power of social media, Rea contacted Margaret and asked for her help in making cribs for stillborn babies.
Using yarn bought on Vinted, Margaret and Frances crocheted (the group also allows crocheters in!) various cribs and baskets which will be taken by Rea to the Royal Oldham Hospital. We hope they will help the parents through what must be a difficult time.
The Lighthouse Knit & Natter group runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 till 12. You don’t have to be able to knit or crochet as we can teach you and have a stash of wool and needles and hooks. And the kettle is always on! Please feel free to come along and see what you’d like to do.

The Lighthouse Project is part of local charity Inspire Middleton which raises all its own funding through grants and donations.
