Fundraising Cycle ride – Thank You Andy!

I wanted to help raise money to support local families, cycling for £1 a mile felt like a good way to start.

Cycling 300 miles to raise £300 for the Pantry

Andy Stott has recently raised £365 for the Lighthouse Pantry by cycling over 300 miles in all kinds of weather and over different terrain.

Andy says…

“As a keen cyclist and a volunteer at the Lighthouse Project in Middleton, I decided in  June 22 to combine my passion for cycling to help raise some money for the pantry which operates out of the Lighthouse.

The pantry is a place which helps families struggling financially to provide food for their loved ones.

I’ve seen first hand the impact of rising food costs, energy costs etc and just wanted to help.

The main big charity’s (Cancer, Dementia, heart disease etc ) are funded elsewhere, so, I wanted to help something closer to my heart and home.

The object was to cycle 300 miles in 30 days in and around Manchester. I used the Strava App to provide daily updates of my progress and completed the challenge, by cycling 308.1 miles, and due to the fantastic generosity of the many people who sponsored my efforts I managed to hit my target and raised £365 for the pantry. The money will be used to feed many struggling families.

Presenting his donation

It was a challenge, but well worth it

A slightly tired Andy said to me this morning….
“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank for all your support financial and emotional. I have had lot of fun completing this challenge and the monies donated will certainly go a long way to helping families in the Lighthouse Pantry improve their situation, so, once again thank you so much for your support.”

The Lighthouse Pantry

The Lighthouse Pantry is our membership based food club. It was set up in December 2018 to help local families and individuals reduce their weekly food costs, and keep more money in their household to cover other bills or needs.
