Kelly’s Ugandan adventure

One of our Trustees, Kelly Hughes, has recently set off to Uganda to work as a volunteer with another charity called Redearth Education that trains, equips and supports local  teachers in effective ways of improving the learning of children.

Kelly is an experienced primary school teacher and she has decided to use her talents to help Redearth empower and equip local schools and teachers in the Masindi District of Uganda, and beyond, to improve education standards.

Kelly is initially volunteering for a year, and at our recent Volunteer Awards shes was presented with a cheque from Andy and Pete who had ridden in a Manchester to Blackpool cycle ride to raise funds to help Kelly on her way.

Steve Coogan joined in with the presentation as patron of the Lighthouse Project and host of our Volunteer Achievement Awards 2017.
