Celebrating 100th Birthday - Eva Greenwood
We had an amazing day last week when we celebrated the 100th birthday of one of our former volunteers, Eva Greenwood.
We celebrated Eva’s birthday with flowers, cake, food, and good company. Cheryl, one of our regular volunteers made the cake, which was stunning, and this was shared out with many of our visitors who attended at the time.
Eva has had many adventures in her life, and she also taught languages for many years in some of the towns largest schools. Eva (Mrs Greenwood) was Carl’s French teacher when he was at St. Dominic Savio’s and he remembers her being very strict and thorough. If you are of a certain age there is a good chance that she may have even taught you.
Eva still has a passion for languages and she used to volunteer with us teaching ‘conversational Spanish’. Those who attended her sessions were always inspired and kept in order as they practiced and developed their Spanish skills. Sadly, when Covid came along it put an end to the classes and her time volunteering with us. But we have kept in touch and she is a regular visitor calling in to say hello to the team.
Happy 100th birthday Eva. Many congratulations, and may you enjoy many years to come. Keep active, and we love seeing you when you call into the Lighthouse Project to say hello.
