A message about Dave Melia.
It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the passing of Dave Melia, one of our much loved members of the Lighthouse Project staff. Dave had worked for us for 6 years on the staff team, and he’d also been a volunteer for us for a few years before that.

You may remember Dave from his role on our reception, or if he had helped you get back into work , or created you a new CV, or made your sandwiches if you were a walker, or helped you with a food parcel, or given you some other kind of help and support through the many other roles that he did with us.
Dave has not been around for a while as he had recently been wrestling with a diagnosis of cancer, which you probably wouldn’t have known about either as this is not something that he spoke much of, as this wasn’t his style.
After a determined fight, and a short period of care in Springhill Hospice, he sadly passed away peacefully on Saturday 4th June 2022.
Dave’s passing is a great loss to us, and also to all the many other people who he has helped, and supported, and inspired over the years that he has worked at the Lighthouse Project, and in the other support organisations he previously worked at. He has always had a heart to serve and support people.
Please pray for the comfort of his family, and for all those who were close to him.
His funeral is being held at Middleton Crematorium, Boarshaw on Friday 17th June 2022 at 10:30am.
We have opened a book of remembrance for Dave at the Lighthouse Project and if you want to call in to record any funny stories, or give thanks, or write down your remembrances of Dave, then please feel free to do so.
We will miss you Dave, and we already do! With love from your Lighthouse Project family.
