Team R99 from the Prince’s Trust have recently helped us to realise a dream of having an outdoor garden that has taken two years to come to pass.
The land at the back of the Warwick Mill gets the best sunlight as opposed to the dark frontage that many people see, however before we were able to use the narrow strip of land along the rivers edge we had to cut back lots of weeds and brambles and dig out a few tons of surplus soils and debris from passed uses.
Thankfully we were able to secure the support of a team of young volunteers from the Prince’s Trust who chose the Lighthouse Project to be their community project. After some initial preparation and us erecting the riverside fence the group were able to start. They spent three weeks with us and endured the vagaries of the current Bristish weather to make this project happen.
We very much appreciate their work and want to extend a massive thank you to them for helping us realise a long standing dream. The work so far is just phase 1 and we are now planning to provide a selection of planting areas for growing plants, and also preparing a space for growing vegetables.

Our Who Let the Dads out group were one of the first to be able to make use of the garden area at their last session on Saturday 25th June. They had great fun playing on the benches and dropping pebbles into the river.
