Channel 4 looking for new recruits – moving forwards

Nov 2011 Update – the recruitment phase has been concluded and no further applications are being considered.

T
aking up the challenge facing the British textile manufacturing industry.
It has been a long time since the Warwick Mill last saw any textile or clothing manufacturing, but today in the Lighthouse Project it hosted the first rounds of interviews in the search for talented and enthusiastic local people to be involved in a new project aimed at facing the challeng of making clothing at home or sending it abroad.

Viki and Charlotte (pictured) and Caroline and Aimee are part of the Endemol production team who are currently conducting the interviews for a proposed new documentary series for a Channel 4 programme featuring Mary Portas about the British textile manufacturing industry.

The Lighthouse Project runs the Middleton work club which is a part of our weekly employability activities which was set up in February as part of the national ‘Get Britain Working’ initiative.

Through the work club we have been able to promote the ‘Mary Portas Needs You‘ opportunity and we have been able to support the production team in their search for potential new recruits to be part of the project, and hopefully find some of our visitors a new and interesting career in textile manufacturing.
