July sees the national launch of the new Go-On web site [go-on.co.uk] which is aimed at helping people to get more out of life online.
There are nine million people in the UK who have never used a computer, don’t have access to one, or don’t know how to get online, and over ten million who can’t send an email.

The Go-on site is user friendly and incorporates many different features to help new users to get started and become computer-savvy.
“For us it is about breaking down barriers that exclude people from everyday life and the things that many people take for granted”, says Lighthouse founder Carl Roach, “and this is a great way to get started, so don’t be afraid, or embarrassed, we can help you get the skills you need and gain the confidence to make a start.”
The Lighthouse Project is one of 75 ukonline centres [ukonlinecentres.com]who were specifically chosen from around the country to pilot the new site, which has been happening over the last 3 months, “this has been a privileged time for us knowing that right here in Middleton we are amongst some of the first areas in the UK to be able to trial the new site in real life.”
So, come and have a go at getting on line at go-on.co.uk. The Lighthouse Project is open Monday – Friday between 10am – 4pm, it is a voluntary organisation run by local charity Inspire Middleton and it is open to anyone to drop in and attend any of our events or activities.
