Go ON – could you get more out of life online in 2011.
It’s a New Year, and as a UK online centre we are setting people a new challenge – to make going online one of their New Year’s Resolutions!
The Go ON get more out of life online campaign kicks off 17 January and will run for four weeks, with Go ON activities taking pace at around 1,500 venues across England – including UK online centres, Jobcentre Plus offices, libraries and community centres.
More than 30 million of us use the internet everyday in the UK. More than half of all leisure travel is now booked online, 90% of all new jobs require basic internet skills and more than seven million jobs were posted online last year.
But there are still 9.2 million adults in the UK who have never used the internet, and are missing out on the benefits, opportunities and savings it can provide. What’s more, the problem is worst for those already at a disadvantage. If you’re older, disabled or on a low income, you’re far more likely to be offline.
The Go ON get more out of life online campaign is being delivered in partnership with Race online 2012 partners including Jobcentre Plus and the BBC. It fits in with wider Go ON activities taking place this January, and with the BBC’s First Click campaign which starts again this week.
Go ON get more out of life online visitors will get the chance to find out how the internet could help them in everyday life – from getting on at work to keeping in touch with family and friends, exploring interests to saving time and money.
