For nearly 2 years we have wanted to created an outdoor space at the Lighthouse next to the bubbling Wince Brook that passes the back of the mill. Today that dream moved a little bit closer as we started to erect a new fence along the bank of the river.

The back of the mill is the best part of the building for catching the sun and our desire is to create a multi-purpose outdoor space that would include an informal seating area, some raised bed planters for flowers and perhaps a sensory area, and also a space for growing vegetables in a poly-tunnel or greenhouse.

One of the barriers to this dream has been the fact that there was no fencing along the edge of the river to stop people falling in! Through a generous donation of some white upvc fencing we are now able to change this and hopefully we will be able to bring the space into use for this summer.

We are staring a new mini-series of Cook and Taste sessions with Michelle and Diane our local health trainers.

These sessions are running on Friday mornings 10am – 11:30am on 11th, 18th & 25th May, and 1st June

These are drop-in sessions and free to attend, you will see a practical demonstration of how to cook healthy food and learn more about the benefits of healthy living.

Learn how to edit digital audio files?

Then this free basic digital audio session would be just right for you.
Using free software you will learn how to edit simple audio files and dip your toe into the world of digital audio.

Some of the things you will learn include

• making tracks louder or quieter
• mixing backing tracks
• removing unwanted parts, etc.

This session on Friday 25th May between 1pm – 3pm is being run by Cartwheel Arts as part of their ‘Tell us another one’ project.

Do you need any help or advice about your council benefits, or have you wondered if you might be entitled to certain ones?

The sessions are provided by Rochdale MBC staff who can give you specific help and guidance. No appointment is necessary.
