Lighthouse Project Walking Group
The new Lighthouse Project weekly walking group starts today running in conjunction with Living Well.
The first walk takes place on Friday 26th August 2016 from 12:00, and then every Friday from the same time. The walks are led by trained volunteers along interesting and local routes.
Walking is a great way to improve your fitness without too much strain, and the group walks will be at your speed rather than being a race around the block. You can bring your dog, buggies, or your children, and we are even planning future walks that will be suitable for people in wheelchairs or with disabilities.
No previous walking experience is required and it also provides a chance to meet new people and explore things that are on our doorstep.
Lighthouse Project support worker Carole says that “this is a great new activity that many people are already getting excited about. It costs nothing, its a perfect exercise and anyone can do it, its all inclusive.”
“The walks are local and will be varied, they will help people in lots of different ways. We can’t wait to have a go ourselves, health and wellbeing all rolled into one.”
For more information contact Carole on 0161 643 1163, or register your interest using our online Activity Sign-up form – here.
There will be opportunity for people to get involved, to volunteer, and to become walk-leaders. Just let us know of your interest.
