A team visit to local Citizen of the Year awards

Lighthouse team at Rotary Citizen of the year 2015

Janet, Carl, Pam, Carole, Julian & Kelly

Middleton Rotary club have been running their local Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year awards since 2013. This Year our very own Carl Roach was nominated for his work in setting up Inspire Middleton the Lighthouse Project and Middleton Central Foodbank.

Local Rotarian Elizabeth Birkett was impressed by what she found when she visited the foodbank bringing donations from the club. The more she saw the more she liked about the work that the Lighthouse Project, the Foodbank and Inspire Middleton are doing to help and support local people in Middleton. This is what impressed her to nominate Carl for this years award.

The event, which was held at St.Ann’s Academy, was a great evening where the work and achievements of the various nominees was shared with the attendees; it was so good to hear of the variety of good work that is being done by community groups right across the town.

Obviously there can only be one winner, and on this occasion Carl did not win, but we were pleased that our work was recognised and that we were nominated. The work that we do is not down to one person it is definitely a team effort, so well done to our great team, our volunteers and our visitors.
