Painting & Art at the Lighthouse
Here at the Lighthouse Project we have set aside one of our larger meeting rooms specifically to encourage painting, art and creative activities. It is our ambition to encourage local people to use the centre as a place where they can develop their painting in the company of other artists whether you are new to painting or have been doing it for many years.
We currently have one artist in residence called Peter Baker who regularly uses the art room as a base for his painting.
Here is a leaflet with more info Peter Baker – info leaflet – Lighthouse
Here is some of his story:
Peter has been painting landscapes and portraits in acrylics, pastels, oils and watercolours for the past 20 years.
Ten years ago after a severe stroke, Peter lost the use of his right hand. Since then he has learned to use his left hand instead for both his paintings and drawings. So successful has he been that his work is being used by the Stroke Association as examples of personal triumph over the private disaster of a stroke.
